Sunday 7 - Issue #12 | eOpinion

Hello there!

Welcome to issue #12 of the eOpinion Sunday 7!

As always, firstly some housekeeping – here is Friday’s Daily eOpinion if you didn’t get round to it.

If you have been forwarded the Sunday 7 by email or seen it on social media somewhere, there’s a sign-up form at the end so you can receive it directly next time. I don’t want you to worry unnecessarily about missing it in the future! 😀

Here is our round-up from this week, enjoy!

Sunday 7 - Issue #12 | eOpinion

1. Staying isolated! 🛋

Research conducted by 24/7 Pest control, has shown that despite lockdown restrictions about to be lifted (hopefully! 🤞 ), 33% of us would rather stay home alone!

It would appear those under 24 are more likely to be sociable than those above with 42% of 50-64 yr olds saying they’ll avoid social interactions altogether. 😮

If you would like to find out the rest of the stats, have a look here.

2. Pedal Power! 🚲

Squeezing in a couple of bike-related stories on this next one.

First up is BMW, they’ve had a bit of stick this week from the cycling community after polling their Twitter audience about environmental travel and excluding the two-wheeled transport.

If we are being cynical, perhaps it was deliberate, a PR stunt maybe?

Anyway, you can read more here.

Next up is law firm Irwin Mitchell, whose research has revealed that the number of people commuting by bike has doubled since before March last year.

More on that story here.

3. This one’s a bit morbid…. ⚰️

There was a bit of a trend this week with questions submitted to the Daily eOpinion by members of the eOpinion tribe.

As you’ll see from the below images, death was a hot topic.

One question, in particular, resulted in our highest ever % when it comes to the unsure response.

The question that stumped you (and me!) the most was, would you like to live to 100?

If I’m honest, I was one of those who genuinely didn’t know what to respond. Proud to be part of the 38%!

4. Gazzaaaaa! ⚽️

Look away now you Scot’s among the tribe.

Samsung conducted research ahead of Euro 2020 to find out what fans thought were the best moments of Euros past.

First place was Gazza’s emphatic finish against Scotland in Euro 96.

To prove I’m in no way bias, Southgate’s penalty miss, also in Euro 96, was second.

5. How do I look? 🪞

Cold sore medicine Zovirax, have this week revealed that Under 25’s spend an hour and a half every day worrying about their appearance! Approx. 26 days a year! 😮

This report raises the issue of social media and unrealistic expectations again.

It also revealed that one in five will need 10 selfies taken, before being happy to share one on social media.

For all the details, you can read about it here.

6. How’s your back? 💊

Research from Nurofen this week has shown that 36% of respondents have seen an increase in back ache and 26% more neck pain since lockdown restrictions started last year.

It’s probably no surprise that experts put this down to ‘not so ideal’ conditions for many working at home.

You see more on this report here.

7. Have you read the label? 💄

A report from weDo/Professional this week has revealed that while many of us consider ourselves to be very caring and do our bit for the environment, we don’t always get it quite right.

Their poll showed that 63% of people would always buy free-range eggs but only 28% would buy more expensive beauty products that are cruelty-free. 61% said they couldn’t tell if products are ethical from the packaging. 55% don’t even check.

That said, over half of us consider sustainability to be a more important factor than having done so in the past.

More details on this story can be found here.

Thank you for having a read of our Sunday 7. I hope you found it a little bit interesting and entertaining.

If there is someone you know that you think would like it, I’d be more than happy for you to share it with them.

We’ll be publishing these each week so if you happen to see something that you think should be included, feel free to let us know. There are plenty of ways to get in touch or you can tweet me directly here.

I hope you have a great week and please sign up below if you haven’t done so already. The eOpinion tribe is always on the lookout for new members who have a valuable opinion to share.

All the best,

Chris 😀
