1. Here comes the…… home! 👰‍♀️

With the pandemic causing chaos to wedding plans up and down the country, couples have been reviewing their finances.

Halifax have surveyed couples and found that 64% think that a home is now a bigger priority than their wedding. They also found 62% of engaged UK couples have already, or would consider, reallocating their wedding budget towards a deposit for a house.

2. And for those with a dog and planning an engagement…. 🐶

A new trend is emerging in the world of proposing. Simply going down on one knee just won’t cut it anymore for those with pets.

Jewellers Taylor & Hart conducted some research revealing 30% of pet owners either have, or plan to get their pet involved in their marriage proposal.

It also showed half their customers have a dog with their other half and over 60% of them would want to have their dog as part of their wedding day.

3. The future of wine bottles? 🍷

A UK company has developed an even better (than glass) wine bottle for the environment, from paper!

A recent poll on the subject via The English Vine found that 63% would be happy to buy wine in a paper bottle.

In all honesty, I’m surprised it’s not higher, and at 5 times lighter than glass too, it sounds like a great idea to me.

4. Are we there yet? 🚗

A rise in staycation’s, on/off lockdown, pent up travellers, sunshine (maybe!) are all likely to contribute to an impressive increase in traffic this summer.

This unsurprising revelation is backed up by a poll from RAC showing that 40% of brit’s have already booked a UK based holiday.

If restrictions remain in place that number bumps up to nearly half who would want a UK trip.

5. Old doesn’t mean cheap. 🚘

For someone who has coveted a classic car for a while, this next one was an interesting one.

According to a report by the International Federation of Historic Vehicles (FIVA) of over 55,000 enthusiasts, the average classic car owner spends over £4k a year on their ‘hobby’!

Quite the sum considering on average, cars only go out 15 times a year averaging 878 miles.

For all the details, you can read about it here.

6. Don’t drive tired! 🥱

Continuing the driving theme now but in a slightly more alarming and serious tone.

Road safety charity IAM RoadSmart has found in their survey of 1,000 drivers that 10% admitted to closing their eyes behind the wheel because they were so tired.

They also found over half were very concerned about tiredness when driving long distances.

That adds up to some big numbers of drivers across the UK every day. 😬

7. Does Bitcoin ever become mainstream? 🤑

Barely a day goes by when Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies are not headline news in one way or another.

However, despite all the publicity, 93% of financial advisor’s would never recommend investing in crypto.

With huge price rises and interest in crypto, and no interest from IFA’s it begs the multi-billion dollar question; who is going to be right in the end?

More details on this story can be found here.
