Hello there!
Welcome to issue #7 of the eOpinion Sunday 7!
First off, a bit of housekeeping – here is Friday’s Daily eOpinion if you didn’t get round to it.
And here is a Speedy Poll about Kate & Will starting a Youtube channel in case you didn’t see it.
If you have been forwarded the Sunday 7 by email or seen it on social media somewhere, there’s a sign-up form at the end so you can receive it directly next time. I don’t want you to worry unnecessarily about missing it in the future! 😀
Here is our round-up from this week, enjoy!
1. We are a nation of online window shoppers. 🛍
This survey from Barclaycard caught my eye this week.
They polled shoppers to look at their habits around not completing purchases.
And the results are really surprising.
On average, online shoppers add goods worth over £100 to baskets each month and then don’t go on to purchase.
Fashion websites suffer a drop off of 70%!
If this interests you and you’d like to read more about it, you can do so here.
2. George is King! 🎤
No not that one. George Michael!
Radio Station Smooth Radio polled over 75,000 people to see which song they thought was the best of all time.
And Careless Whisper by Mr Michael came in on top. 🎶
If music is your bag and you want to see all the other classics that made it on to the list, have a read here.
3. It’s getting closer to gig time! 🎸
Live music industry body LIVE surveyed 25,000 music fans to understand their feelings towards live events as lockdown restrictions start to ease.
Over half would attend now if they could.
75% would be happy to provide COVID certification to attend an event.
Did you know the UK’s live music business is a £4.6bn industry that employs over 200,000 people?
4. Which way to the beach? ⛱
With the word staycation trending ever higher at the moment, this survey from Which is pretty timely.
If you want to know the top seaside resorts in the country, take a look here.
But here’s the headlines.
Top 3 are Bamburgh in Northumberland, Dartmouth in Devon and Tynemouth in Tyne & Wear.
This curator didn’t know that the North East was so good for beaches!
If you are the type of person who scrolls right to the bottom, yep me too, Skegness and Weston Super Mare are the spots to avoid!
5. Our green and pleasant land! 🏞
Northumberland is doing well this week in the Sunday 7.
Another survey from Which who are really going after this staycation trend, looked at Britain’s best national parks.
Facing some pretty stiff competition, Northumberland National Park came out on top with a score of 90%.
For the rest of the results and some amazing bucket list inspo have a read here.
6. Knock, Knock! Who’s there? ✊
Experiencing this first hand this week, this survey was pretty timely.
Yet another survey from Which looked at the resurgence of doorstep scammers as lockdown restrictions start to ease.
10% of those targeted felt pressured into signing up for something. A scary number at scale!
If you want to get up to speed on how it all works, have a read of this article on Your Money.
7. Humankind is good! 🙌
During research for this week’s Sunday 7, this survey via Behold Retreats both tickled me and warmed the old cockles.
Surveying US residents, 81% said they think humankind is inherently good and 75% believe they’re fundamentally a good person.
Just under half believe they are the best person they know! 😀
For a lot more details and demographic breakdowns, have a read here.
